One of Fauquier’s oldest family-run businesses is expanding in 2020. Since the mid 1970s, Appleton Campbell has served our community’s homeowners’ HVAC, plumbing, and electrical needs with quality and efficient customer service, operating out of a historic building in old town which was once the ice house and power plant for the town. Now in its fifth decade, the owners are relocating operations to a new facility to streamline efficiency and accommodate the needs of the company as it grows. Lifestyle sat down with Heather Appleton to talk about this new era for Appleton Campbell.
The time to prepare your home for colder months is here! The most important rule for frost free hosebib’s to work as designed, is to make sure the garden hose is never left attached to the spigot during freezing temperatures. An attached garden hose will not allow the water to escape the “barrel” and could cause the pipe to freeze and burst. A traditional style “silcock” hosebib must be turned off inside the home and opened on the outside, to allow the water to escape the areas of piping that can be compromised due to freezing conditions.
